About
Ray Foley has worked professionally with Maysles Films (Gimme Shelter, Grey Gardens, The Beatles First U.S. Visit), The Collective, Giraldi, Hungry Man, Celsius Pictures, Identity, MJZ Productions, and @radical media, to make television commercials, documentaries, reality television and dramatic shorts.
Besides producing television commercials, Foley’s lifelong passion for music has inspired him to work with the highest level of recording artists.
Foley’s producer credits include the Grammy Award winning documentary “The Recording of the Producers – A Musical Romp With Mel Brooks”, directed by Susan Froemke of Maysles Films; the Dave Myers directed opening sequence for NBC’s Saturday Night Live, and “A Peculiar City”, the New York City 2012 Olympic spot directed by Bob Giraldi.
Foley also worked with director Susan Steinberg (editor on Robert Frank’s portrait of the Rolling Stones “Cocksucker Blues”) on the American Masters special on Ahmet Ertegan, “Atlantic Records: The House That Ahmet Built.”. Foley also worked with documentarian Albert Maysles on his autobiographical film, “Hand Held and From The Heart”.
Foley was chosen by Verve Records to direct the last three music videos for singer/songwriter Teddy Thompson. Foley’s short film “Anytime Tomorrow”, about folk rock musician Neal Casal (former lead guitarist for Ryan Adams and The Cardinals) premiered the original New Yorker Festival and was released on DVD through Fargo Records. “The Salvation Blues”, commissioned by HackTone Records for recording artist Mark Olson, was honored at the Nashville Film Festival, the Minneapolis Film Festival, and the Coney Island Film Festival.
Foley is currently working on a feature film about rock and soul artist Arthur Alexander.
